Description:

The Department of Communication is seeking a self-motivated, highly organized undergraduate student intern to assist with managing, posting, editing and promoting the department’s internships, in addition to managing, posting and creating content for the department’s social media channels and the new public relations major on main campus. This role will require students to connect with local businesses and organizations, proactively engage with COMM and PR students seeking internships and coordinate an internship fair during the Fall 2026 semester. Although this 3-credit internship is unpaid, it is an exciting and high-profile position in a growing department. 

Qualifications:

A public relations minor or major with a 3.0 GPA or higher; strong writing skills; excellent interpersonal skills.

Fall 2026 semester (could also be extended through Spring 2027 semester)

The Nature Conservancy's Western Division is hiring a marketing and communications intern this summer to support high‑impact projects and get hands-on experience along the way.

This is a paid, 10‑week internship designed to help bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice. We’re looking for an undergraduate student, graduate student, or recent graduate (2024–2025) based in the Western US or Alaska who’s excited to learn, collaborate, and contribute to meaningful conservation work.

The WRRC is seeking a student intern to assist in updating information on its resources webpages about and from Arizona’s water agencies and associations. The student intern will be exposed to key state and regional water agencies, organizations, and associations and generate content that assists the public in understanding the roles and information shared by these organizations. This internship is made possible by a generous donation from David Wegner, a long-time supporter of the WRRC and the use of science in decision-making. Dave Wegner has a wide career spectrum ranging from research in the Colorado River Basin, coordinating the collection and use of science in the Grand Canyon for addressing the impacts of Glen Canyon Dam, working for the Fish & Wildlife Service and Bureau of Reclamation, and being senior staff for water policy and climate related issues for the US House of Representatives. Currently he works with Woolpert Engineering on water initiatives and supports the work of the National Academy of Sciences and multiple global water resilience and adaptation research organizations. This internship anticipates that the intern will work approximately 160 hours flexibly scheduled over the summer and offers a stipend of $3,000 to be deposited to the intern’s bursar’s account. Through the generosity of Gene Sander and Louise Canfield-Sander, the WRRC is offering a Summer 2026 internship for the development of the 2027 Arroyo. The intern will contribute to the creation of an issue of the Arroyo, the annual WRRC publication that focuses on a critical Arizona water issue. This internship provides an opportunity to gain experience researching and writing about water issues. Eugene G. Sander served for many years as Vice Provost and Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (renamed the College of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences in 2023) and held the title of the 20th University of Arizona President from 2011 to 2012. Louise M. Canfield-Sander, Professor Emerita (Biochemistry) focused her work on improving health outcomes for underserved populations, particularly Indigenous peoples of Central America and the US Southwest. This internship anticipates that the intern will work the equivalent of 20 hours per week for 12 weeks over the summer and offers a stipend of $5,000 to be deposited to the intern’s bursar’s account. The Arroyo is an accessible summary of current information on a single water topic of interest for Arizona and the region, chosen each year in connection with WRRC’s annual conference. What / Why / How

Sayso is a real estate technology company. Social media, referrals, and podcasts are core growth channels for client acquisition. We need someone who can learn fast, move quickly, and own outcomes. You will own our organic growth engine. This role is best for someone still in school who wants real startup experience.

Our first software product helps real estate agents have better phone conversations. We launched our founding user group in early January 2026. Time and consistency are our biggest bottlenecks. This role exists to keep momentum moving forward.

You will work closely with Kuvaal to turn ideas, voice notes, calls, and day to day work into content that gets published consistently. You will also help get that content and message in front of the right people through creators, affiliates, and podcasts.

Part of the role is deciding what content matters now versus later, which platforms deserve attention, and how to test and improve quickly. This is not a scheduler or assistant role. We need you to think, ask questions, and take initiative.

No one is tracking hours. This is not about hitting a forty hour week. It is about agreeing on timelines, communicating clearly, and doing what we say we will do. Some weeks will be lighter. Some weeks will be heavier. Reliability matters more than hours.

There is no budget for monetary compensation at this time. This is a very early stage opportunity focused on experience, learning, and contribution. When the company begins generating consistent revenue, compensation will be revisited. Expectations and timing will be discussed clearly and directly from the beginning. This role has a clear path to a future full time position and growth into Head of Social and Partnerships.

Background on Sayso

Sayso is a real-time sales performance platform. Development started in May 2025 with the original focus being B2B sales teams. The platform included:

• Cue - real-time prompts during sales calls

• Smart Capture - a smart notetaker that structures call data

• Recall - conversation prep and context before calls

The overall goal has always been to improve performance on sales calls while reducing friction in traditional sales training. Sayso secured a commitment to run a pilot with a PropTech SaaS company doing roughly $80MM ARR; however, enterprise-level vetting for a pre-revenue start-up was taking too long. 

In November, Kuvaal’s coach asked a simple question. What is the fastest path to cash? Kuvaal’s background is in real estate sales and team management. The same problems seen in B2B sales exist in real estate sales. Agents struggle with confidence, consistency, and knowing what to say during live conversations. The team decided to sprint toward real estate, so Recall and Smart Capture were temporarily cut to prioritize Cue for real estate agents.

SaysoRE launched on January 7, 2026, with a founding alpha group. The long term plan is to reintroduce Recall and Smart Capture.

About the role

This role blends social media management with influencer and affiliate outreach. You will run strategy, creation, posting, engagement, and help build relationships with creators, affiliates, and podcasts in the real estate sales space. You will work across company and personal profiles on Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.

General Position Description
The Urban Planning Intern within PDSD will join the Long-Range Planning Division to support either the Public Information or Planning teams.

PDSD’s Long Range Planning Division works to advance goals of sustainability, equity, economic growth, and vibrant, livable neighborhoods through corridor and place-based initiatives and special projects. General long-range planning projects include code amendments, public outreach, long-range planning projects like the city’s general plan, special districts, entitlements (re-zonings), and long-range planning initiatives such as Plan Tucson, and historic preservation. These initiatives implement the goals of Plan Tucson and provide an opportunity for community members to shape the future of their city. Join the team that shapes our city!

The Public Information team represents the entire department, including current planning, inspections, and customer service. As part of this team, the intern would support key objectives, such as clear and compelling communication. Joining this award-winning communications team will provide the intern with experience in key areas, including website management, video production, and other marketing projects.

The Urban Planning Intern will work to achieve the priority goals of PDSD’s outreach and engagement efforts. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment. The selected individual must be able to manage multiple work assignments and be comfortable working with members of the public.

Essential Functions
The Communications and Urban Planning Interns will be introduced to the overall functions of the Long-range Planning Division. The specific internship tasks will be a blend of the interns' interests and the needs of the department. Tasks may include:
• Auditing the website and other materials and suggesting revisions for precise and consistent messaging and instructions on urban planning processes;
• Support public meetings and outreach by attending public meetings, taking notes and integrating feedback into proposed policies;
• Interact with the public by attending public meetings; may present information and respond to questions from the public;
• Conduct urban planning related research and analysis related to urban issues such as climate change, housing needs, transportation, economic development and other topics;
• Examine data and indicators related to urban development, economic development, housing, transportation and others;
• Create public outreach and marketing materials such as maps, handouts, reports, videos, and presentations;
• Research and compile best practices and successful programs implemented in other municipalities;
• Finalizing databases with measurables of special district projects to help determine their impact.
• Become familiar with Unified Development Code and other land use regulations; gain understanding of how these regulations shape urban development by assisting with development applications;
• Drafting of agendas and meeting summaries for the City of Tucson’s Design Review Board and the Infill Incentive District Design Review Committee;
• Attending meetings with the Tucson-Pima Historical Commission, the Planning Commission, the Zoning Examiner and the Rio Nuevo Board, and preparing summaries for staff;
• Attending public meetings and technical meetings with City staff from various departments to discuss Plan Tucson, Infill Incentive District update, FTA grant for Rapid Transit System, Transit Plan, and Corridor Plans;

Qualifications
Minimum:
• Interns must either have an internship requirement for their degree plan, be getting course credit, or be eligible for the UA summer internship stipend (https://career.arizona.edu/experiences/summer-internship-stipends/). Please indicate which of these apply to you on your application.
• Summer interns must be able to work during business hours (Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) in the office located in downtown Tucson, with the possibility of some evenings and weekends
• Summer interns must be able to use their personal laptop and UA email, and Microsoft Office products.

Preferred:
• Interest in urban planning or public relations, or related fields such as geography, architecture, public policy, data analysis, real estate, development, marketing, advertising, business management, journalism, or media
• Ability to work with the general public and staff, both virtually and in-person, in a collaborative manner.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft, Adobe, and GIS applications.

Other Details:
This position is unpaid, and interns are encouraged to receive outside compensation (such as the UA SIP program linked above) or fulfill a degree requirement or receive independent study credits as reciprocity. This position is not eligible for City of Tucson employee benefits. The position is part- or full-time. Start and end dates and a weekly schedule are flexible and can be determined with the intern at the start of the internship.
