Unity and Engagement
At the University of Arizona, we strive to create a working, learning and living community where all members and visitors feel welcomed and valued. In the Department of Communication, we respect all our communities--both within and outside of the department--and seek to make the department a welcoming place for all. Unity represents our desire for a society in which divisions between groups of people are reduced and people's differences are celebrated. Engagement represents our goal of being connected with the multiple communities within and beyond our department, and for those communities to always feel like they have a home here. As a communication department, we believe that human communication is a route to a more peaceful and equitable world.
Land Acknowledgment
We respectfully acknowledge the University of Arizona is on the land and territories of Indigenous peoples. Today, Arizona is home to 22 federally recognized tribes, with Tucson being home to the O'odham and the Yaqui. Committed to diversity and inclusion, the University strives to build sustainable relationships with sovereign Native Nations and Indigenous communities through education offerings, partnerships, and community service.
