Regents' Cup U of A Coaches

Ted McLoof, Debate Coach, and Diana Leonard, Storytelling Coach

The University of Arizona has a lot to be proud of after a sweep at the Regents' Cup Speech and Debate competition on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Northern Arizona University. Storytelling coach and Communication instructor Diana Leonard, at right in the photo, was filled with glee as her students won first, second, and tied for third place at the event. Celeste Lugo, a Communication major, took first place in the Storytelling competition and won a $15,000 scholarship; Raychel Hodges, also a Communication major, locked in second place and a $12,000 scholarship, and Alicia Hall and Gennie Obaid tied for third, and each received a $5,000 scholarship. Trevor Fox was an alternate who, along with other participants, won a $500 scholarship for taking part in the event. The University of Arizona Department of Communication is extremely proud of Professor Leonard and all of the students who prepared and polished presentations, and for the alternates who are essential at these events.
