The Chris Segrin Dissertation Award

The Department of Communication has proudly named the Communication dissertation fellowship after Professor Chris Segrin.

Over his career, Dr. Segrin has served as graduate director for our department for a number of years and has served as department head for well over a decade.  He has directed 12 MAs and 24 PhDs in his career, and has served on an immense amount of graduate committees in Communication and in other departments on campus. He also was the prime collaborator in establishing the dissertation award.  In addition to this, he is a top scholar in the field of Communication, with almost 200 publications, millions of dollars in grant funding, and an interdisciplinary scholar, publishing in Psych, Nursing, Oncology, Family Studies, Gerontology, and Communication.  In this way, we honor Dr. Segrin for his dedication to our department and to graduate education.
