Monica Gallegos, Ph.D.

Dr. Monica Gallegos received her B.A. in Communication from the University of Arizona, and her M.A. in Communication and Journalism from the University of New Mexico. She recently graduated from the University of Arizona with a Ph.D. in Communication, specializing in Health Communication. Her research is focused on how social relationships and loneliness affect health, especially among disadvantaged individuals including Latinos and older adults. Dr. Gallegos has teaching experience in health communication, public speaking, lifespan communication, media ethics, and introduction to communication courses. In addition, she has business experience in advertising, marketing, public relations and development, specifically related to the health care industry.
